It was a little more 'softcore' than I had imagined. Though if it's a manga to TV adaption, it's bound to be heavily watered down. It wasn't soo good that I wanted to run off and buy the other eps though. Also I read the first manga volume prior to seeing it, and that's like 100% hentai ultra violence.

The manga you read was by Go Nagai. the TV series was directed by Toshiki Hirano, and even thought it is a water down version the art work should still be respected as well as the two original characters from the manga. You have to under stand that the anime is focused for all audiences and that it was a tribute to Go Nagai's original Davilman Lady. Just a Mao Dante anime was a tribute to its original origins.

Err yeah- but the anime isn't anything like the manga. The manga was another oppertunity for Nagai to push ultra-violence n rape to the nth degree (as he does). The TV series was fairly predictable in it's shiny look and 'for TV' story. The fact that the emon beasts too bleed purple fluid instead of blood tone it down a bit also.

In the TV series there is hints towards lesbienism, etc, but in the manga Jun fucks devil beast, Ran Asuka, monsters, and other women. I know there is probably a bomb of ultra violent mangas in Japan, but I myself have never read anything as violent as Devilman Lady. Not that I HATE it, I'm just saying that the manga is radically different to the TV adaptation.

The most male readers (even if tehy don't admit to it) would like to see the main heroine get fucked... and that's exactly what happens to Jun throughout the manga, WHEREAS in the anime she is pretty much reserved and celebate, and (i know I've only seen 8 eps, BUT) spends more time with Katsumi than her male dates.

I think you are still missing the point here, Go Nagai didn't do the anime someone else did. And there is nothing wrond with lesbienism, if you have a problem talk to the greekes. And as for violence you must not have read alot of Nagai's work... take a look a Cutie Honey the manga and then look at the anime, that also with Violent Jack and the original Devilman.

You also have to keep in mind that Devilman Lady came after Devilman, and that she was is counter part in the end just as Devilman was the counter part of Dante.
